Custom Redirect and 404 Error.........

What the hell is a "custom redirect" and a "404 Error".......really I am 43 years old and since I deleted my last blog and started a new one I would like people to continue following me from all over the world.....but no matter what I have no understanding about this.....well I will have to have one of my sons help me......which one though will be the question........
